Surat5 June. Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of 24 different projects of the central and state governments on Friday evening in Surat, Gujarat, his home state, on the occasion of World Environment Day. In this sequence, he gifted development projects worth a total of Rs 18,778 crore to South Gujarat.
In the program organized at Deendayal Upadhyay Indoor Stadium in Surat, the Prime Minister praised the courage of the people of Surat and said, ‘Surat, which once faced epidemics like plague, has today emerged as a great example of cleanliness and environment-friendly energy in the entire country.
The country is facing every challenge strongly
PM Modi said, ‘The world is currently going through unprecedented challenges. Some time ago I had said that this decade is proving to be a decade of disasters for the world. In recent times we have seen global disasters one after another. First there was a big crisis due to Covid-19, then wars broke out at different places and severe energy crisis has thrown the whole world into disarray. Petrol prices are continuously fluctuating across the world and the gas supply chain is coming to a standstill. I am very satisfied that with the collective efforts of 140 crore Indians, the country is facing every such challenge strongly.
He said, “Today there are some pessimists in the country who constantly make fun of the ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ campaign. They always underestimate this resolve of the country. These are the same people who have always kept India dependent on other countries. They forget that a country dependent on others can never reach the heights of development that it actually deserves.”
‘Our government is working keeping the development of the country at the top’
Prime Minister Modi further said, ‘Our government is working by keeping the development of the country at the top. This is the reason why the country trusts BJP and its development work and the public gives the BJP a chance to serve again and again. Recently I was on a tour of five countries and there too only Bengal was being discussed. Everyone was talking about Bengal. BJP and NDA have got huge public support in the elections held in Bengal, Assam and Puducherry.
PM Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of development projects worth Rs 18,800 crore in Surat.
Congress’s politics of finding opportunities amid chaos will no longer work.
PM Modi said, ‘For the last 12 years, Congress has been looking for opportunities by spreading anarchy and uncertainty, but the people of the country have repeatedly given it a befitting reply. The people of Gujarat have sidelined Congress. But even where there are Congress governments, the public is fed up with the misgovernance of the party. Recently, local body elections were also held in Himachal, where despite the Congress government being in power, the party had to face a crushing defeat. Earlier, Congress had lost the local body elections in Haryana, and the people of Punjab have also given a clear message to the party. Congress’s politics of finding opportunities amidst chaos will no longer work.

India defined by optimism, inspired by extraordinary aspirations
He said, ‘There is huge resentment among the people of Karnataka against the Congress government and that is why the party had to change its Chief Minister there. India has moved far ahead of negativity. It is a country defined by optimism and driven by extraordinary aspirations. Its citizens are full of dreams and resolutions and are committed to turning those resolutions into reality. When the collective will of the country is so strong, it can achieve any goal and this is the real strength of India.
