Decision to start Bullet Train for Bengal: Will run between Delhi and Siliguri

Kolkata, June 6. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has promised to bring bullet train in West Bengal. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav gave this information during a meeting with Chief Minister Shubhendu Adhikari at the State Secretariat ‘Nabanna’ here on Saturday.

Railway Minister Vaishnav said – will reach Siliguri via Lucknow, Varanasi and Patna.

Ashwini Vaishnav said while talking to the media that it has been decided to start bullet train for the state. This train will connect Siliguri via Delhi, Lucknow, Varanasi and Patna. This journey will take only six hours and will be comfortable.

The Railway Minister said that in 42 years, only 28 kilometers of Kolkata Metro network had been completed, whereas 45 kilometers of metro lines have been added since Narendra Modi became Prime Minister in 2014. He said that 60 new generation trains will be introduced for Kolkata Metro in the next five years and it is expected that railway projects in West Bengal will get a new impetus under the ‘double-engine’ government. He said, ‘Today I traveled in Kolkata Metro. We will give a new look to Kolkata Metro.

High-speed corridor will connect Siliguri to New Delhi in six hours

He also said that the proposed bullet train services between Delhi-Varanasi and Varanasi-Siliguri are aimed at drastically reducing the travel time. He said, ‘These high-speed corridors will connect Siliguri to New Delhi in six hours.’

 

Apart from metro train, Vaishnav also traveled in auto rickshaw.

Before this, Ashwini Vaishnav reached Dumdum airport on Saturday morning. Immediately after leaving the airport, the Railway Minister boarded the metro and interacted with the passengers. He also rode in an auto rickshaw. He was also accompanied by state minister Jagannath Chattopadhyay and Purulia MP Jyotirmoy Singh Mahato. After this the Chief Minister and Railway Minister addressed the media and announced the launch of several rail projects for the state.

Regarding the Bullet Train, the Railway Minister said, ‘Work on it will start soon. The path for the rail project has been cleared and all the MLAs have assured cooperation. He also promised to introduce new stations and additional trains. Also, Chief Minister Shubhendu Adhikari urged the Union Minister to focus on the Information Technology (IT) sector in the state.
