Sourav Ganguly’s reply, refuted the rumors spreading about Mamata Banerjee and Yusuf Pathan.
Saurabh Ganguly, former captain of the Indian cricket team and former president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), has recently reacted to a popular rumor related to the politics of West Bengal. He has completely rejected all the claims that he was playing the role of a messenger between Mamata Banerjee and Yusuf Pathan.
Ganguly said in clear words that such reports have no connection with reality and are being unnecessarily dragged into the controversy.
There was no conversation of any kind with Yusuf Pathan
Sourav Ganguly said that some reports had claimed that Mamata Banerjee had asked him to convey a message to Yusuf Pathan. Reportedly, in that message, Yusuf Pathan was requested to leave the Lok Sabha membership so that Mamata Banerjee could reach Parliament by contesting the by-election.
However, Ganguly termed all these claims as completely baseless. He said that neither Mamata Banerjee asked him to convey any such message nor did he ever have any conversation with Yusuf Pathan on this subject. According to him, this entire story is based only on speculations and rumours.
Why did this discussion start?
Actually, there was a discussion going on in the politics of West Bengal for some time that Mamata Banerjee wants to further strengthen her role in national politics. Meanwhile, a rumor surfaced that she might look for a safe seat to enter Parliament.
The name of Baharampur Lok Sabha seat also came up in the discussions, from where Trinamool Congress MP Yusuf Pathan has been elected. Sourav Ganguly’s name was also added to this link and it was claimed that he was establishing communication between the two leaders.

stop rumors
After the clear statement of Sourav Ganguly, these political speculations have stopped to a great extent. It has become clear from his statement that he had no contribution in the discussions going on regarding the resignation of Yusuf Pathan or vacating the seat for Mamata Banerjee. In such a situation, now this matter seems to be limited only to the rumors spread in political circles.
