Just hours after snatching the captaincy, SKY wreaked havoc! 48 runs scored in 24 balls, Shreyas Iyer kept watching – VIDEO

Suryakumar Yadav in Mumbai League: Suryakumar Yadav hugged Shreyas Iyer, just hours after losing the T20 captaincy of the Indian cricket team. On Saturday, before the series against Ireland and England, Shreyas took charge of India’s T20 team in place of Suryakumar. The two players met a few hours later during a Mumbai League T20 match, which was played between Triumphs Knights MNE and SOBO Mumbai Falcons.

Suryakumar is the captain of Triumphs Knights MNE and although Shreyas Sobo did not play in this match for Mumbai Falcons, he was present on the field. Before the match, both the cricketers greeted each other and hugged. During this time Rohit Sharma also appeared with him. Later, Suryakumar scored 48 runs in just 24 balls with the help of 3 fours and 4 sixes.

Congratulations to Shreyas Iyer

At the time of the toss, Sky said, “I am very happy with Shreyas becoming the captain of the Indian T20 team. We have played all our cricket together in Mumbai and it is good to know that the last three Indian T20 captains have all come from Mumbai.” Earlier, chief selector Ajit Agarkar had said that Shreyas Iyer is the most experienced choice to become the new men’s T20 captain.

Surya flopped in T20 World Cup

The selectors also admitted that it was not an easy decision to remove Suryakumar Yadav from the captaincy despite leading the team to the World Cup win three months ago. 35-year-old Suryakumar’s performance with the bat has been a struggle for some time now. He scored just 242 runs in nine innings of the T20 World Cup, which included an unbeaten inning of 84 runs against the United States.

His performance in IPL 2026 was further disappointing, where he scored only 270 runs in 13 innings at an average of 20.76. Mumbai Indians finished ninth in the points table of ten teams. After Shreyas became the captain, Suryakumar has been dropped from the team for the tours of Ireland, England and Asian Games.
