New tension amid ceasefire: Spark flares up again in Hormuz, America shoots down Iranian drone
Strait of Hormuz: America claimed on Saturday that its military shot down two Iranian attack drones flying over the Strait of Hormuz. According to the US Central Command (CENTCOM), these drones were posing a threat to international maritime traffic, after which they were deactivated.
CENTCOM said the US military is ready to respond to any threat in the region and protect its interests. Even before this, America had claimed to have stopped many Iranian missiles and drones. According to the US Army, out of seven ballistic missiles fired in the direction of Kuwait and Bahrain, six were intercepted, while one could not reach its target.
Increased concern over regional security
Meanwhile, Kuwait, Bahrain, Egypt, Jordan and Qatar have condemned these attacks and expressed concern over regional security. Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) says that its attacks were carried out in response to earlier US military action.
Accusations and counter-accusations continue between the two countries
On the other hand, Iran’s Foreign Ministry has criticized the American attacks, calling them a violation of the ceasefire. The ministry said that such action can further increase tension in the area. The US Army says that it targeted Iranian radar bases to prevent further possible attacks.
