15 year old Vaibhav got special exemption, BCCI allowed him to take his family along
Tezzbuzz Desk- The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has taken an important and sensitive decision regarding the rising star of Indian cricket, Vaibhav Suryavanshi. Vaibhav, who made it to the national team at the age of just 15, has been given special permission to stay with his parents during the upcoming tour of Ireland and England. The Board believes that family support is very important to handle the pressure of international cricket at a young age.
Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who made headlines with his aggressive performance in the IPL, will go on a foreign tour with the Indian team for the first time. In such a situation, BCCI has made this special arrangement keeping in mind his mental and emotional balance. The Board will also bear the entire travel and accommodation expenses of their parents.
According to BCCI, the sudden popularity at such a young age, increasing media attention and international level competition can be challenging for any young player. With the presence of parents, it will be easier for Vaibhav to adapt to the new environment and he will be able to feel more comfortable mentally.
A similar example was seen in the history of cricket when young Sachin Tendulkar went with the Indian team on the Pakistan tour in 1989. At that time Sachin was 16 years old and his elder brother Ajit Tendulkar was present with him. Now Vaibhav Suryavanshi is also going to get the same support.
Interestingly, the current BCCI rules limit the presence of players’ families on foreign tours. Under normal circumstances, players cannot keep their families with them during the entire tour. Even during long visits, family members are allowed to stay for a limited period only. However, considering Vaibhav’s age and circumstances, the board has decided to give special relaxation.
Meanwhile, Vaibhav Suryavanshi also has an opportunity to make a big record. If Vaibhav, who was selected in the Indian team at the age of 15 years and 71 days, makes his debut in the upcoming series, he will become the youngest player to play international cricket for India. This record is currently in the name of Sachin Tendulkar, who made his debut for India at the age of 16 years and 194 days.
The eyes of cricket lovers are now fixed on team selection and playing eleven. If Vaibhav gets a chance, he can not only add a new chapter to the history of Indian cricket but also set a new record as the youngest Indian player to appear on the international stage.
