Monalisa Bhosle, who became famous overnight on social media during Prayagraj Mahakumbh, is once again in the headlines across the country. However, this time the reason is not any of his videos, but the ongoing legal and political tug of war between two states regarding his marriage. Amidst the controversy arising after marrying a Muslim youth, this matter has now reached the threshold of Kerala High Court, where the court has reserved its decision after hearing both the sides.
Let us tell you that Monalisa and her husband Mohammad Farman Khan, who went viral while selling pearl necklaces in the fair, had filed an anticipatory bail petition in the High Court to avoid their arrest. Justice Kausar Edappagath conducted a long hearing on this and indicated that the court may give its order soon. During the hearing, there was a heated debate between the lawyers of both the sides on the manner of marriage, the real age of the girl and the threats being received by the couple.

During the hearing, an incident happened in the court room which attracted everyone’s attention. The couple’s lawyer argued before the court that ever since his clients got married in Madhya Pradesh, they have been receiving constant death threats and are being mentally and physically harassed by different fundamentalist groups.

Arguments of both sides in court: at a glance
There is a big dispute regarding this whole matter between the girl’s family/Madhya Pradesh government and the married couple themselves regarding age and documents. You can easily understand the claims of both the parties from the table given below:
The heat reached CPM leaders, the matter became politically sensitive.
This matter is not limited to the parallel proceedings of the courts of two states (Madhya Pradesh and Kerala), but now a big political entry has also taken place in it. A private complaint has been filed in a POCSO court in Thiruvananthapuram. In this complaint, it has been alleged that many senior leaders of Kerala’s ruling party CPI(M) have played a role in protecting and promoting this interfaith marriage.
In this complaint, a case has also been registered against big leaders of CPM like MV Govindam, V Shivankutty and AA Rahim and a demand has been made to take action. Due to this political connection, the eyes of the entire country are now focused on this case. Now it remains to be seen what stand the Kerala High Court takes regarding anticipatory bail in this sensitive case.
