Madhya Pradesh created history in HPV vaccination campaign, more than 7.63 lakh girls got vaccinated

Bhopal. Madhya Pradesh has joined the top states in the nationwide HPV (Human Papilloma Virus) vaccination campaign launched with the aim of providing protection to women from serious diseases like cervical cancer.

As a result of the commitment and continuous monitoring of health staff, allied departments, more than 7.63 lakh eligible girls in the state have been successfully vaccinated with HPV.

State Deputy Chief Minister and Health and Family Welfare Minister Rajendra Shukla gave this information on Monday. He said that by achieving historic achievement in HPV vaccination campaign, Madhya Pradesh has proved that with the help of public participation, commitment of health staff and effective leadership, even the biggest public health campaigns can be made successful before time.

He appreciated the efforts of the doctors, nursing staff, Asha and Anganwadi workers, ANM, teachers, district administration and all the officers and employees of the health department associated with the campaign and congratulated them for the success.

He said that this campaign is an important step towards providing a secure future to the daughters of the state by protecting them from serious diseases like cervical cancer.

It is noteworthy that the nationwide HPV vaccination campaign was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 28 February 2026 with the aim of providing protection to women from serious diseases like cervical cancer.

This campaign was originally scheduled for 90 days, but Madhya Pradesh completed the set target in just 60 days, which is an excellent example of the efficiency and effective implementation of health services in the state.

Deputy Chief Minister Shukla said that cervical cancer is the second most common cancer in women in India and the main cause of most of its cases is HPV infection.

According to medical experts, this is a cancer which can be prevented to a great extent through effective vaccination. HPV vaccine is a safe, effective and scientific solution to protect girls from this serious disease in future.

There was active participation of Health Department, School Education Department, District Administration, public representatives, teachers, Asha and Anganwadi workers and parents in the success of the campaign. This historic achievement has been achieved through widespread public awareness, micro planning and continuous monitoring in all the districts of the state.
