IND vs AFG: Manav Suthar became the hero of India’s victory in the debut match, said – this is an incredible moment for me

Manav Suthar : India has registered a big win by 300 runs by defeating Afghanistan on the third day of the New Chandigarh Test. Debutant Manav Suthar was the hero of the host team’s victory in this match. Who took 6 wickets for 33 runs in the first innings of his Test career. After this he got one wicket in the second innings. Suthar was given the Player of the Match award for his excellent bowling.

In the post-match presentation after the win, Manav Suthar was asked (Test cricket is easy, isn’t it?) To which the left-arm spinner said, “No sir, actually it is not. (His emotion on getting the India cap) It was a very unique feeling. Right from the beginning, it was my dream to play for India and play Test cricket. So it was an incredible moment for me and to be honest, it felt absolutely unreal.”

Did batting before bowling reduce nervousness? On this question, Manav Suthar said, “No… even when I went to bat, I was feeling quite comfortable. As I settled on the crease and played a few balls, I realized that the spinners were getting a little help on the wicket. Then, when I came to bowl and bowled my first over, I got the same feeling. After that, my entire focus was on maintaining the right line, length and pace.

What is the biggest lesson you learned from this match? The youngster said, “The biggest lesson is that consistency is everything. You have to keep bowling at the same places again and again. I think that is the most important thing in Test cricket. It is a format which requires a lot of patience. That’s what I have learned – be patient, stick to your plans and keep bowling in the right places consistently.”

On the third day of the Test match being played in New Chandigarh, Afghanistan’s first innings was reduced to 152 runs. The main reason behind which was Manav Suthar, who was playing his first test match for India. He performed brilliantly throughout and took 6 wickets for 33 runs in his first Test innings. With this, India got a lead of 412 runs in the first innings and Afghanistan was forced to follow-on.

Afghanistan had a better start in the second innings after getting follow on. The openers added 42 runs for the first wicket, but after that the visiting team lost its rhythm. Due to which Afghanistan collapsed for 112 runs. In the second innings, Washington Sundar took maximum 4 wickets, Kuldeep Yadav took 3 wickets and Siraj and Suthar took one wicket each.
