Trump said that negotiations with Iran have reached an important level and progress has been made towards reaching agreement on several key points of the agreement.
In his message released on the social media platform ‘Truth Social’, Trump said that after discussions with Iran’s top leadership, he decided to cancel the planned military action. According to him, detailed discussions have taken place between the parties concerned on the outline of the agreement and many important issues related to it.
Trump said that apart from America, many countries including Israel, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Turkey, Pakistan, Bahrain, Kuwait, Jordan and Egypt have played a role in this process.
However, Trump clarified that the naval blockade implemented in the area will continue for the time being and there will be no relaxation in it until the final agreement is formally signed. He indicated that further announcements related to the agreement could be made soon.
Meanwhile, the US military command US Central Command has made an important claim regarding the Strait of Hormuz. According to CENTCOM, the Strait of Hormuz is open to international merchant vessels and provides safe sea routes.
Centcom said ships that are not in violation of US sanctions related to Iran can use the route normally. The US side claims that hundreds of commercial ships have safely passed through the Strait of Hormuz during the last two months.
