Chandigarh: Punjab Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema today held separate meetings with employee unions of various departments to discuss their grievances and demands and find concrete solutions to their issues.
In these meetings, discussions were held with the delegations of Veterinary Pharmacists Action Committee, Overage Unemployed Union, Adarsh School Teaching and Non-Teaching Association, Punjab AIDS Control Employees Welfare Association and Asha Worker and Asha Facilitator Union.
What did Harpal Singh Cheema say?
Assuring the employee unions of the positive outlook of the Punjab government, Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema said, “The Punjab government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann is fully committed to constructively resolve the legitimate issues of the employees. All legitimate demands will be reviewed on priority basis and the process of resolving them will be expedited.”
During the meeting with representatives of ASHA Workers and ASHA Facilitator Union, the Finance Minister directed the Department of Health and Family Welfare to prepare a comprehensive framework to provide health and life insurance coverage to ASHA workers, so as to ensure their social security and welfare.
While reviewing the demands submitted by the employee unions, Harpal Singh Cheema seriously listened to the issues related to regularization of long serving contract based and temporary employees, relaxation in age limit in the upcoming master cadre recruitments, pay revision, transparent transfer policy and restoration of service rules and welfare benefits. After detailed discussions, he directed the concerned administrative departments to take necessary action for speedy settlement of all the legitimate demands of the unions.
During the meetings, Davinderpal Singh Lasoi, Jasvinder Kumar, Manpreet Singh Dhillon and Harbhajan Singh from the Veterinary Pharmacists Action Committee; Raman Kumar Malout and Lalita on behalf of Overage Unemployed Union; Salim Mohammad, Amarjot Joshi, Amandeep Shastri and Balwinder Singh on behalf of Adarsh School Teaching and Non-Teaching Association; Jasmail Singh Deol, Gurjant Singh and Rupinder Kaur on behalf of Punjab AIDS Control Employees Welfare Association; And Saroj Bala and Surjinder Kaur presented their respective issues on behalf of Asha Worker and Asha Facilitator Union.
