Congress entangled in Channi, Wadding or Bajwa, that’s why 3 ‘envoys’ sent from Delhi to Punjab?

Punjab Congress is once again seen standing at the same point where it was standing in 2021. At that time, the news of removal of Punjab CM Captain Amarinder Singh was in the headlines in social media and media. Now there are reports of removal of Captain Amarinder Singh Raja Vading of Punjab Congress. The high command and Congress leaders are refusing to change the leadership. On this claim, people are saying that the high command had said something similar for Karnataka also but the opposite happened there. Now the Congress party has sent three leaders as observers to decide what will happen in Punjab.

Before the assembly elections, factionalism in the Congress party has come to the fore. Regarding Punjab elections, many political experts believe that Congress Party is in a strong position in Punjab but factionalism in the party will cause loss. Factionalism was also considered to be the reason for defeat in 2022. To end this factionalism, Rahul Gandhi had called the leaders of Punjab to Delhi and held a meeting a few days ago. However, reports of factionalism had come to light in this meeting also. After this, a high command meeting was held in which only the in-charge of Punjab was called.

Now three observers will descend

To end factionalism before the assembly elections, the high command appointed three observers. These include Ajay Maken, to whom the party has given responsibility on many important issues. Its leaders close to Rahul Gandhi, Meenakshi Natarajan and Bhajan Lal Jatav have been sent to Punjab as observers. These three leaders will come to Punjab and take feedback from the workers and leaders and submit their report directly to the Congress President.

Will there be a change of leadership?

On the question of change of leadership, Congress clearly says that there will be no change. However, there is talk in political circles that the party may hand over command to a new face in the state and these three leaders are being sent to explore the possibility of the same. According to the Congress letter, the three observers will discuss the political scenarios in Punjab and submit their report to the high command as soon as possible.

Channi becomes a problem?

Currently, there is a tussle going on in Punjab Congress between former CM Charanjit Singh Channi and current Pradhwa Raja Vading. It is being told that these leaders had clashed in the presence of Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi. Earlier, in a Congress meeting, Channi had expressed his displeasure over getting fewer posts in the organization despite Punjab having the largest population of Dalits. His blame was directly on Jatt Sikh leaders. Channi had also raised the issue in the recent meeting held in Delhi that Congress had lost in the local body elections in Raja Vadding area. Channi said that how will a leader who could not win the civic elections in his own area win the assembly elections.

Channi’s strong point is that he is the Dalit face of the party and Dalits are the largest vote bank in Punjab. Apart from this, he has also been a former CM and his image is good among the common people. However, there is a large section within the party which is completely rejecting his leadership. Along with this, he had lost both his seats in the last assembly elections and after this did not work in the party for a long time. The talk of his going abroad also continued to trouble the Congress. Activists allege that he is less visible on the ground and lives more abroad.

Solution will be found before the journey

Congress party now has government in only a few states and after Kerala, the party now has hopes from Punjab. In such a situation, Congress party leaders are brainstorming about Punjab. To reduce factionalism and give a message of unity, the party has planned a three-day bus tour in Punjab to reach all 117 seats. It is being claimed that all the leaders will board the same bus. However, the party has also made such efforts during the MNREGA protests in which factionalism came to the fore. Now before the bus journey, the party wants to settle all the responsibilities in Punjab and after that it wants to start the election campaign.
