Kolkata, June 12. CID has once again summoned Trinamool Congress (TMC) national general secretary and MP Abhishek Banerjee for questioning on June 14 in connection with the difference in signatures of TMC MLAs. He was called for questioning at CID headquarters from Thursday. CID released Abhishek Banerjee late at night after interrogating him for about six hours. According to police sources, during the long interrogation on Thursday, Abhishek Banerjee could not answer specific questions related to the original resolution book and minutes of the meeting.
“When he was asked whether being the party general secretary he could deny knowledge of the resolution book, he even lost his temper for a few minutes,” a source said. Apart from the questions related to the information in the original resolution book, Abhishek Banerjee could not give correct answers to many other questions of the investigating officers in this case. After CID’s interrogation, Abhishek Banerjee went directly to Mamata Banerjee’s residence on Harish Chatterjee Street.
After ignoring three consecutive notices, Abhishek Banerjee appeared before the CID for questioning on Thursday. Calcutta High Court has given protection to Abhishek Banerjee for 21 days from strict police action including arrest. He was also instructed to cooperate with the investigating officers. The High Court has also given permission to CID to conduct raids and search operations as per requirement for impartial investigation of the case.
