Authorities in Uttarakhand carried out demolition action against the residence of an accused allegedly involved in a deadly clash in the Bairagiwala area of Sahaspur, where a dispute over water escalated into violence between two communities.
The demolition was carried out in the presence of police and administrative officials as security remained heightened in the area following the incident.
One killed in violent clash
According to police, the violence erupted late on Friday night after a dispute related to water supply reportedly triggered a confrontation between members of two communities in Bairagiwala, which falls under the Sahaspur police station limits of Dehradun district. The clash turned violent, resulting in serious injuries to multiple individuals. One person later succumbed to injuries sustained during the incident. Authorities have described the situation as sensitive and said additional police personnel have been deployed to prevent any further disturbance.
Demolition action carried out
On Saturday, the residence of the accused allegedly linked to the killing was demolished as police and district administration officials supervised the operation. Heavy security arrangements were put in place around the area during the demolition to maintain law and order and prevent any untoward incident. Officials said the action was undertaken while investigations into the violence continued.
Police register case against 28 people
Police have registered a criminal case in connection with the incident and launched an extensive investigation. According to officials, the FIR names three accused individuals while also including 25 unidentified persons allegedly involved in the violence. Investigators are examining evidence, witness statements and other material to identify additional suspects linked to the clash.

Following the incident, authorities intensified security arrangements in Sahaspur and nearby localities.
