Om Birla On TMC Matter: Lok Sabha Speaker took an important decision regarding rebel TMC MPs, know what Om Birla is going to do?
New Delhi. After the results of West Bengal Assembly elections, apart from TMC MLAs, 20 MPs have also rebelled against Mamata Banerjee and her nephew Abhishek Banerjee. TMC MPs under the leadership of Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar have also joined an unnamed party Nationalist Citizens Party of India (NCPI) from West Bengal and have submitted a letter in this regard to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla. At the same time, Mamata’s nephew has given a letter to the Speaker of the Lok Sabha, terming the separation of the group of TMC MPs as legally wrong. Now latest information about this has come to light.

According to media reports, Om Birla has decided to talk to both the factions of TMC. The Lok Sabha Speaker had called Abhishek Banerjee on Monday to talk about this, but Abhishek was facing questioning in the ED office at that time. On his behalf, TMC MP Kirti Azad has met Om Birla and requested for a second date. Overall, the Lok Sabha Speaker is taking bold steps in this matter. So that the rest of the opposition, including the Mamata Banerjee faction of TMC, cannot allege that they did not take action as per the law.

Actually, the whole issue pertains to the 10th Schedule of the Constitution. This schedule explains how the division in the parties will take place and what rules will be applicable for the separating MPs and MLAs. Mamata faction of TMC and opposition leaders say that 20 MPs cannot separate from the party like this. At the same time, the rebel faction says that they have seceded and joined another party under the provisions of the anti-defection law. It is being told that after talking to both the parties, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla will decide by next week whether the rebel faction of TMC MPs joining NCPI is right as per the law or not.
