From death of sailors to trade deal, Modi-Trump face to face after 16 months! Which issues will be discussed?

Modi-Trump Meeting: Amidst all the major developments, after 16 months, once again the leaders of the world’s two biggest democratic powers are going to face each other. On one side is Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and on the other side is America’s President Donald Trump. But the question is whether this meeting will be just a formal meeting? Or an attempt to remove the sourness in the relations between the two countries in the last one and a half years. Will you give any big hint regarding this? Will Modi raise the issue of death of three Indian sailors with Trump? And will India’s resentment towards Pakistan also be visible in this meeting?

This question is also because Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Donald Trump are going to meet during the G-7 summit being held in France. This will be the first face-to-face meeting of the two leaders after February 2025. That means after 16 months both the leaders will sit together and talk. But a lot has changed in these 16 months. When Modi and Trump met in February 2025, the atmosphere was very positive. Both the countries had announced major cooperation in defence, trade, technology and energy sectors. At that time the US-India Compact Initiative was launched. Its objective was to increase defense partnership, strengthen cooperation and work together in areas like AI. But after whatever happened recently, the situation started changing.
