Skoda Auto Volkswagen India awarded ‘Top Automobile Exporter’ by Mumbai Port Authority; More than 40 thousand vehicles in 2025-26
Skoda Auto Volkswagen India Private Limited (SAVWIPL), which has played a key role in strengthening India as a global automotive manufacturing and export hub, has been awarded the prestigious ‘Automobile: Top Exporter’ award by the Mumbai Port Authority. The company was given this award for exporting more than 40 thousand vehicles from Mumbai port during the financial year 2025-26.
Earlier also in the financial year 2023-24 the company was honored as ‘Top Exporter’. Thus, maintaining the tradition of consistently excellent export performance, SAVWIPL has further cemented its importance in the Indian automotive industry.

The company has exported more than 7 lakh 25 thousand vehicles manufactured in India in the last few years. These vehicles have reached various international markets like Asia, Africa, Middle East as well as North America. This has also highlighted the growing confidence of global consumers in India’s manufacturing capabilities. SAVWIPL’s export portfolio includes the popular models Volkswagen Tigun, Volkswagen Virtus, Skoda Kushak and Skoda Slavia. All these vehicles are shipped to various countries in the form of ‘Fully Built Units’ (CBU). Apart from this, the company is now increasing the export of vehicle spare parts and components. These parts are used for assembly operations in select countries, thereby strengthening India’s role in the Volkswagen Group’s global supply chain.

Commenting on this achievement Piyush Arora, Managing Director and CEO, SAVWIPL said, “It is a matter of pride for us to be honored once again by the Mumbai Port Authority. We are committed to further strengthen India’s position in the global manufacturing and supply chain in the future as well.”
Part of the Volkswagen Group, the company is exploring new export opportunities in line with global market demands and changing regulations. The company’s recent entry into the Sri Lankan market is seen as another important step in its regional expansion strategy. SAVWIPL’s contribution in increasing vehicle exports from India to the world is expected to be more important in the future.
