Weather of June 18: Heavy rain in 18 states on Thursday, IMD alert
New Delhi: In the latest weather bulletin issued for June 18, 2026, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted different weather conditions in different parts of the country. On one hand, monsoon activities are expected to intensify and heavy rains are expected in many states, while on the other hand, severe heat, heat wave and strong storms can increase the problems of people in some areas.
Weather will change in Delhi-NCR
According to the Meteorological Department, Delhi and surrounding areas may remain partly cloudy on Thursday. The effect of heat will persist during the day and the temperature may remain between 37 to 39 degrees Celsius. However, there is a possibility of light rain with thunder in the evening and night. Strong winds can also blow, whose speed can reach up to 40 kilometers per hour in the evening.
Alert of strong storm and bad weather in Rajasthan
Weather patterns may change suddenly in many parts of Rajasthan. The Meteorological Department has issued a warning of strong dust storm in western and eastern Rajasthan. At some places the wind speed can reach 70 to 80 kilometers per hour. There is also a possibility of hailstorm along with rain in Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh and Himachal Pradesh. The main reason behind this is considered to be the new Western Disturbance active in North-West India.
Big update regarding monsoon
According to IMD, the south-west monsoon is currently in a stable state, but the conditions are becoming favorable for its advance in the next few days. It is estimated that around June 23, monsoon may hit some other parts of Odisha, Jharkhand, Bihar, Telangana and Chhattisgarh.
Heavy rain in Northeast and South India
There is a possibility of heavy rain in most of the states of North-East India. There may be widespread rainfall in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura. An alert of excessive rain has been issued especially in Assam and Meghalaya. Apart from this, there are chances of heavy rain in Andaman-Nicobar Islands, Sikkim and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal.
In South India, Kerala, Mahe, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal may also see good rain for the next few days.
Bihar-Jharkhand may get relief
There is a possibility of sporadic rain in Bihar and Jharkhand, which may provide some relief from the scorching heat. The Meteorological Department has also expressed the possibility of heavy rain in some areas of Bihar. At the same time, rain activities are expected to continue in many parts of Odisha, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Vidarbha.
Effect of heat wave will continue in many states
Despite the rain, the effect of hot winds may persist in some areas of Bihar, Odisha, Madhya Pradesh, Eastern Uttar Pradesh, Vidarbha and Telangana. The Meteorological Department has advised people to be alert and take necessary precautions. In view of the possibility of hailstorm in the hilly states, gardeners have been instructed to take special precautions.
