Pant returns, KL captain; Yuvraj batting coach, DC will change completely in IPL 2027?
Big changes can be seen in the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). There are reports of Rishabh Pant rejoining Delhi Capitals (DC). According to a Times of India report, talks have started between DC and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). Pant has been a part of LSG for the last two seasons. This franchise, owned by Sanjiv Goenka, had given him the command of the team after making a bid of Rs 27 crore for Pant. However, Pant did not live up to his expectations.
Pant was a flop on both the captaincy and batting fronts. He recently stepped down from the captaincy of the team after a disappointing performance in IPL 2026. Now news is coming that LSG wants to trade him with DC in exchange for Kuldeep Yadav. According to the report, DC can make KL Rahul the captain in IPL 2026. After Pant went to LSG, Axar Patel captained DC for two seasons and he could not take the team to the playoffs even once. JSW will take over the management of DC in the 2027 and 2028 seasons. In such a situation, a change in leadership is considered certain.

Yuvraj can become DC’s batting coach
Former Team India legend Yuvraj Singh can become the batting coach of DC in the upcoming season. According to the report of news agency PTI, Sourav Ganguly will take over as DC’s Director of Cricket and Yuvraj will join the team as batting coach. If Yuvraj takes over the coaching position of DC, this will be his first term in any kind of coaching role in the IPL. An IPL source told PTI, ‘There will be a complete change in the coaching staff of DC, as as per the agreement JSW will take over the management for the 2027-28 season. The trio of Venugopal Rao, Hemang Badani and Munaf Patel will have to make way for new support staff who were appointed by co-owner GMR.

The source further said, ‘Sourav Ganguly will take over as Director of Cricket and Yuvraj will join the team as batting coach.’ As per the agreement, co-owners GMR and JSW take turns managing the DC men’s team for two years. It is believed that Ganguly wanted to include Yuvraj in the team, because under his captaincy he had a lot of influence on this left-handed batsman. Prior to this, Ganguly was looking after JSW’s SA20 franchise Pretoria Capitals and DC women’s team as Director of Cricket for two years.
