Marvel Rivals has officially kicked off its Summer Festival celebration, bringing a wave of limited-time content, cosmetics, and mini-events for players to explore.

One of the biggest highlights is the arrival of the new Mister Fantastic summer costume, called Fantastic Beach Dad. Unlike many premium skins in the game, this one can be unlocked entirely for free through gameplay.

However, players should prepare for a lengthy grind because earning the costume involves much more than simply logging in and claiming rewards.

Marvel Rivals Mister Fantastic summer skin unlock requirements

The Fantastic Beach Dad costume is available through the Krakoan Reels event pass introduced in Season 8.5.

Rather than following a traditional event pass structure, NetEase has turned Krakoan Reels into a fishing-themed mini-game. Players must first earn XP by playing regular matches. That XP is then converted into bait, which is used in the fishing activity.

For players who do not want to grind matches, bait can also be purchased using Lattice. However, the free route remains available for everyone willing to put in the time.

The key objective is reaching Level 8 in the event’s Exchange Store.

To do that, players must catch a total of 21 fish through the fishing mini-game. Every fish contributes toward unlocking higher store levels and earning event currency.

Once Level 8 is unlocked, players can spend 18 Silver Coins to claim the Fantastic Beach Dad costume.

Krakoan Reels event explained in Marvel Rivals

The Krakoan Reels event follows a similar structure to last year’s Jeff’s Break Time event, which rewarded players with a free Jeff the Land Shark costume.

Players earn bait through gameplay, with every 1,950 XP granting one bait. That means unlocking the Mister Fantastic skin requires a significant amount of match participation over the course of the event.

After obtaining bait, players enter the fishing mini-game. The fish they catch determine how many coins they earn.

Rarer fish provide greater rewards, helping players progress through the Exchange Store faster. Successfully completing fishing sessions also improves the chances of catching rare fish in future attempts.

The entire progression system revolves around catching fish, earning coins, unlocking store levels, and purchasing rewards.

Marvel Rivals Krakoan Reels rewards and premium pass details

The event features a total of 40 rewards split between free and premium tracks.

Free players can unlock various sprays, emotes, nameplates, MVP animations, emoji bundles, and the Fantastic Beach Dad costume itself.

Players who purchase the VIP Pass for 990 Lattice, roughly $9.99, gain access to additional premium rewards, including the Coastal Wall-Crawler Spider-Man skin and the Coastal Couple swimsuit costume for Cloak & Dagger.

For players focused solely on the Mister Fantastic skin, spending money is not required. The costume remains one of the headline free rewards available through the event.

For Mister Fantastic players, the answer will likely be yes.
