NEET UG 2026 Re-Exam: Why was the center allotted to Nagpur student in Abu Dhabi for NEET UG 2026 re-exam? NTA gave clarification and explained the reason
New Delhi. The issue of Mohammad Talib, a student from Nagpur, being allotted the examination center in Abu Dhabi for the NEET UG 2026 re-exam to be held on June 21 is much discussed. However, after the request of the student, the National Testing Agency made amendments and gave Nagpur center to the student. NTA was being criticized in this whole matter, after which now NTA has issued a clarification and given the reason as to why that student was allotted the center in Abu Dhabi. NEET exam is conducted by NTA only. According to NTA, this was not a technical glitch but the candidate himself had selected the Abu Dhabi center for the examination through his registered login.

NTA informed that after changing the date of NEET UG 2026 to June 21, the window for making corrections in the examination center was re-opened to help the candidates to get allotted the examination center in the city of their choice. NTA’s web-activity records reveal that in the case of student Mohammad Talib, the change of exam center was done while the correction window was open through the candidate’s own registered login, showing a pattern of access by the same user. NTA observed that on 3 occasions, once the center was changed to Abu Dhabi using the candidate’s credentials and twice it was observed that the center was Abu Dhabi. Despite this, NTA accepted the candidate’s request and took action to change the centre.

Despite the candidate choosing Abu Dhabi centre, NTA received an informal request on the evening of June 19 (just 48 hours before the exam) to change the center to Nagpur. NTA staff immediately initiated the center change process and contacted the candidate’s father on the evening of 19th itself to help complete the formal process. Under the Student-First policy, the priority of NTA is that no candidate should miss the examination due to any administrative doubt.
