Meloni Trump Controversy: Pay attention to your popularity… Italy’s PM Meloni’s sharp counterattack on Trump

Trump Meloni Allegations Counterattacks: The dispute between Italian Prime Minister Georgia Meloni and US President Donald Trump is not showing any sign of abating. On Saturday, Trump again reiterated the claim that he took the photo. Meloni also did not remain silent on Trump’s claim and retaliated. President Trump re-posted on his social media Truth Social and wrote that during the G-7 meeting in France, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni repeatedly asked to be photographed with me. His popularity level is falling in Italy.

Meloni gave a befitting reply

Meloni hit back at Trump in his post and wrote that President Trump, these continuous and unprovoked attacks are meaningless. As far as my popularity goes, being your friend doesn’t help, nor does it depend on my relationship with you. My popularity depends on my ability to defend Italy’s national interests and that is what I have always done.

I did the same in the case of American military bases in Italy. We have always respected the agreements regarding their use, and they cannot be violated as long as I am Prime Minister. Italy is a sovereign country. Anyway, my popularity is not your concern. I suggest you pay attention to your popularity.

Trump claimed again

During the G-7 meeting in France, Italian Prime Minister Georgia Meloni repeatedly requested to have a photo taken with me. His popularity levels are falling in Italy, perhaps because he refused to side with the US when it came to preventing Iran from acquiring or building nuclear weapons. They also did not allow us to use Italy’s landing strips or runways, which created huge logistical problems.

Trump further wrote, this happened when America spends hundreds of billions of dollars every year for the security of Italy and other so-called NATO allies. Now that America has defeated Iran militarily, she wants to make friends again to increase her popularity.
