World Boxing Cup: 4 Indian boxers in the final, Jyoti, Meenakshi, Prachi and Deepak won applause

Guiyang (China), 20 June. Four Indian boxers – Jyoti, Meenakshi, Prachi and Deepak Kumar won the semi-final bouts of their respective weight categories here on Saturday and are assured of at least four silver medals by entering the finals in the second phase of the World Boxing Cup 2026. By the way, after the semi-final round today, India’s six medals have been confirmed, which includes four finalists and two bronze medals.

Jyoti defeated Mexico’s legendary boxer Fatima

The team was led by Jyoti (48kg), who defeated Fatima Herrera of Mexico 3-2 in a tough match to reach the finals. Herrera was a strong opponent. She had won a historic silver medal at the World Boxing Cup Brazil 2026 after coming in the 48kg category, which makes Jyoti’s victory even more significant.

Meenakshi defeated Spanish boxer 5-0

Continuing the Indian contingent’s stellar performance, Meenakshi (51kg), who was earlier world number one in the 48kg category and has now moved up a weight division, performed brilliantly. She defeated Spain’s Laura Fuertes Fernandez by unanimous 5–0 decision to book her place in the final.

Prachi and Deepak also won one-sidedly

Prachi (57kg) also impressed and registered an impressive 4-1 win over France’s Amina Zidani to reach the gold medal match. She is in excellent form and has earlier defeated the Paris Olympics bronze medalist in the quarterfinals. On the other hand, in the men’s category, Deepak (70kg) maintained India’s dominance with an impressive 5-0 win over Maken Traore of France and secured his place in the final.

Jugnu and Nikhil lost in the semi-finals, now will have to be satisfied with the bronze medal.

Meanwhile, India’s two other semi-finalist boxers – Jugnu (85kg) and Nikhil (55kg) faced defeat and will now have to be content with bronze medals. Jugnu lost 0-5 to Junior Tadah of France while Nikhil lost 0-5 to American Lorenzo Patricio.

  • 51kg: Meenakshi vs Wu Yu (CHN)
  • 57kg: Prachi vs Nigina Ukhtamova (UZB)
  • M70kg : Deepak vs Abalaikhan Zusupov (KAZ)
