Qatar: Explosion due to technical fault in Barzan gas plant, many employees injured, sound heard till Doha

A major accident occurred on Sunday, June 21, 2026 at the Barzan Gas Supply Facility located in Ras Laffan Industrial City, Qatar. Due to a technical fault during the operations here, a massive explosion occurred, after which a fire broke out on the spot. Many people were injured in this incident, who were immediately taken for treatment.

Qatar’s Ministry of Interior (MoI) informed that the accident occurred due to a technical fault. Initially it was said to be a technical incident, but later it became clear that the explosion occurred due to a mistake during work. As soon as information about the incident was received, Civil Defense teams were immediately sent to the spot and the situation was brought under control.

QatarEnergy also confirmed that the accident occurred while operations were being restarted at the Barzan Local Gas Supply Facility. According to the company, emergency response teams took immediate action and the fire is now completely under control.

The intensity of this explosion was so high that its sound was heard even in Doha city. Many videos of this accident have also surfaced on social media. However, officials have assured the public that no gas has leaked after the blast which could pose a threat to the safety of the common people.
