IUML Shuns DMK: Another hurdle cleared in DMK’s path to support Modi government!, Muslim League breaks ties with Stalin

Chennai. There is speculation that MK Stalin’s party DMK may now support the Modi government in Parliament. Now if DMK wants to do this, then another hurdle in its path has been cleared! Earlier, MK Stalin’s DMK turned against Congress for supporting Thalapathy Vijay’s TVK. Now DMK’s long-time ally Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) has distanced itself from it. IUML is also supporting TVK. According to the news of Hindustan Times newspaper, IUML held a General Council meeting in Chennai. In which the resolution to separate from DMK was passed. IUML says that it supported the TVK government and in the current political situation it is not possible to continue in alliance with DMK.

IUML president KM Khader Mohideen said his party got success in the Tamil Nadu Assembly as well as Lok Sabha and state local body elections while being with the DMK, but decided to support TVK to form the government. Mohideen said that Thalapathy Vijay’s TVK was not supported as part of any political deal. IUML only had to ensure that a situation of President’s rule does not arise in Tamil Nadu. Earlier, when there was a dilemma over government formation in Tamil Nadu, it was reported that DMK chief MK Stalin himself asked IUML and Left parties to support TVK. So that there is no situation of political uncertainty in Tamil Nadu.

After IUML leaving DMK, now all eyes are on MK Stalin’s party in Parliament. The DMK has applied to give its MPs in the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha separate seats from the Congress-led opposition’s Indi alliance. There is speculation that DMK may now support the Modi government in Parliament. However, nothing has been said about this yet from DMK or BJP. The number of DMK MPs in Lok Sabha is 22 and in Rajya Sabha is 8. If DMK supports the Modi government, it will help the government in passing all those bills including the Delimitation Bill, which requires constitutional amendment with a two-thirds majority.
