Engineer Rashid statement on MP Post: MP from Baramulla Lok Sabha seat of Jammu and Kashmir and jailed engineer Rashid has expressed his desire to resign from the membership of Lok Sabha. He says that he is not able to effectively pay attention to the problems and needs of the people of his parliamentary constituency. However, his party Awami Ittehad Party (AIP) has decided to seek opinion from the public and party workers before taking a final decision on the issue.

According to a statement issued by AIP’s chief spokesperson Inam Un Nabi, the party’s political affairs committee held a detailed discussion on the issue. The committee decided that extensive consultations would be held with party officials and grassroots workers in all the 18 assembly constituencies falling under the Baramulla parliamentary constituency.

Why does Rashid want to leave the post of MP?

The statement said that Engineer Rasheed Has shown inability to discharge his parliamentary responsibilities and reach out to voters effectively. For this reason he has expressed his desire to leave the post of MP. On this, the party has decided to start a two-day consultation process, in which opinion will be taken whether he should remain an MP or step down from the post. The party has also indicated that if needed, secret ballot can be conducted among the workers, so that all the members can express their opinion without any pressure.

The decision will be taken in the public court

According to the AIP, Panchayat and block level officials will also interact with the general public and various sections of the society and collect their opinions. The party says that the final decision will be in accordance with the public sentiments and wishes of the voters who had reposed trust in Engineer Rasheed and the party. The spokesperson said that the results of the consultation process and possible voting will be formally conveyed to Engineer Rashid, so that he can take a final decision taking into account all the parties.

AIP reiterated that it believes in the principles of internal democracy and public accountability and that it believes in taking important political decisions. party workers And should be taken on the basis of collective opinion of the public.
