The SIT, which is investigating the arrangements and fund management of Ram Temple, has submitted its preliminary report to the government on Tuesday. According to sources, the SIT investigation has found five major flaws related to the arrangements of Ram temple. During the investigation, many serious flaws related to the administrative, financial and operational system of the temple have come to light. Questions have been raised in the report on many points ranging from security of donations to appointments, procurement process and prasad distribution system.
The investigation found that there was not adequate security and monitoring system in the process of taking the offerings of devotees from the temple premises to the bank and counting them in the counting room. This is why a need for improvement was felt at many levels regarding donation management. The SIT also found that proper recording of gold and silver jewelery gifted by devotees was not being done. Several cases have been noted where the system of storage and record keeping of precious metals was not up to standard.

Questions have also been raised in the report on various appointments of the temple. The investigation revealed that appointments to many posts were made on the basis of recommendations instead of prescribed procedure and eligibility standards. This is said to be affecting administrative efficiency and accountability. According to sources, the SIT has recommended taking corrective steps on all these points, fixing accountability and making financial systems more transparent. The report is being studied at the government level and further action will be decided on its basis.
SIT also found flaws in material purchase and Prasad distribution
SIT has also registered objections regarding the process of purchasing material. The report noted that in many cases the tender process was not completely transparent. There have also been indications of commission embezzlement and non-following of prescribed procedures in some procurement cases. Apart from this, many shortcomings have also come to light in the distribution of Prasad and operation of Sita Rasoi. The investigation found that food items and other goods were often purchased at prices much higher than the market rate. This has raised questions on financial discipline and monitoring system.
