Passenger stabbed to death over coach door in Mumbai local train
Mumbai . A passenger was stabbed to death in a Mumbai local train in Maharashtra over a fight over closing the coach door and fled from the spot. The Government Railway Police (GRP) of Borivali is investigating this incident.
Borivali GRP Senior Police Inspector Dattatreya Khuparkar said today that Mayank Lohar (22) had boarded the train from Andheri station at 10.42 pm on Tuesday night. An altercation broke out between passengers over closing the coach door during rain between Andheri and Borivali. During the argument, another passenger allegedly stabbed Lohar in the stomach, causing serious injuries. The train reached platform number 6 of Borivali station at 11.04 pm, after which the accused fled before the train came to a complete stop. After this, at 11.07 pm, a team of GRP and Railway Protection Force personnel reached the coach and helped the injured passenger. At 11.10 pm, the medical aid team arrived and took Lohar to the emergency medical room at Borivali station, where the doctor examined him and then he was sent to Shatabdi Hospital in Kandivali. Mayank Lohar died on Wednesday morning during treatment at Shatabdi Hospital.
Khuprakar said that the investigating officers are looking at the CCTV footage to identify the accused. He was wearing a black shirt and black pants and had a knife in his hand. The police are trying to find and arrest him. The investigation so far has revealed that the deceased was a resident of Virar and worked at Westside Store in Andheri.
