125 years of Royal Enfield: Memorial sign installed at its original place, know from where it started…
Read Desk. Royal Enfield recently installed a commemorative ‘World Origin Site’ plaque in Redditch, England to mark its 125th anniversary. This is the same city where this famous motorcycle brand started its journey in 1901. This memorial sign was installed in the company’s old ‘Hunt and Works’ factory itself.
Although this recent achievement is UK related, it holds a lot of significance for India as India is the brand’s largest market, manufacturing hub and innovation centre.
Under Eicher Motors, Royal Enfield has had a successful journey from an old British manufacturer to one of India’s most recognized motorcycle brands. Therefore, celebrating 125 years is as special for Indian riders as it is for British enthusiasts.
From Britain to Indian roads
The anniversary event was attended by Royal Enfield employees, rider groups, local people and former employees of the old factory in Redditch. To mark the occasion, the company created a heritage showcase showcasing its evolution over more than a century. The exhibition included motorcycles from multiple generations, including a replica of the original model from 1901 and one of the early Bullet motorcycles from 1932, which laid the foundation for the brand’s strong presence in India.
Although Royal Enfield has its roots in Redditch, India has now become the hub of the automaker’s global operations. The country is the hub of the brand’s manufacturing facilities and product development efforts. It manufactures its motorcycles in India and exports them to more than 80 countries. Along with evergreen models like the Bullet and Classic, Royal Enfield offers everything from adventure tourers and roadsters to 650cc twins. ‘Flying Flea Electric’ is also part of this lineup.
Classic 650 125th Anniversary Edition
The company introduced the Classic 650 125th Anniversary Edition in this event. The bike comes with a distinctive red colour, golden detailing and a special 125 year crest. It is a limited-run motorcycle that pays tribute to the illustrious heritage of Royal Enfield. One of its highlights is its unique multi-layer “HyperShift” paint finish, which appears to change color in different lighting. This motorcycle will be available for sale in Europe from August 2026. However, Royal Enfield has not yet confirmed whether this special edition will be introduced in India or not.
