Pune: A girl from Lohara area of Yavatmal has set before the world a vivid example of how to reach the sky of the goal even with the broken wings of fate. Tanu’s journey that started from Yavatmal faced many hurdles; But with the strength of her love for hockey and determination towards the game, she reached the Indian U-20 team. At this time, her father Dinesh Kadu told ‘Navarashtra’ that, “We never considered the difference between a boy and a girl. The elder daughter Parbhani is pursuing medical education, while the younger Tanu was not allowed to play sports. She had a different passion for hockey in her eyes. We did our best not to let her dream break down due to lack of money, today she has done the hard work.” When the mother was asked about her daughter’s success, she burst into tears.
Lohara to London: Tanushree’s astonishing journey
While at school, hockey coach Shahid Syed recognized Tanushree’s speed in her feet and skill in her hands. It was he who gave the first proper direction to her skill. She did her education till 10th standard at Abhayankar Girls School in Yavatmal. Then in 2022 she was selected in ‘Kreeda Prabodhini’ in Pune. Here she passed her 12th in the year 22-23 while pursuing higher secondary education in Commerce. Also after that further education was done at SNDT. In the year 2024 Sports Authority of India (SAI) selected her as the National Center of Excellence (NCOE) in Mumbai seeing her immense quality. It was this phase that opened the doors of the Indian team for her.

According to information received, Hockey India has announced the 24-member Indian Junior Women’s squad for the tour of the United Kingdom (UK) from July 5 to 14, 2026. Under the guidance of new coach Tim White, the team will play seven matches in Scotland and England as part of their preparations for the upcoming international tournaments, including the Junior Asia Cup. For this, the team is currently practicing in Bangalore. Also, the team will leave for England on the 3rd.
