Attack on Rangers Headquarters in Karachi, Pakistan: 4 killed, suicide blast suspected
New Delhi: Four people lost their lives in the attack on Sindh Rangers headquarters in Karachi. According to local media, three Sindh Rangers soldiers were among the dead. Three other people have also been injured. According to initial information, it was a suspected suicide attack.
Explosion at the main gate, then firing
The attacker detonated the blast at the main gate of the headquarters. Reports say that at the same time other attackers started firing on the security personnel. After this there was a massive encounter in the area. Sources said that the first blast was very strong. After that two small explosions were also heard. There was continuous sound of firing during the operation.
Jamaat-ul-Ahrar took responsibility
Quoting local media, it is reported that Jamaat-ul-Ahrar JuA has taken responsibility for this attack. The organization claims that nine of its fighters were involved in this attack. However, security agencies have not yet officially confirmed this.
There was commotion on University Road
This attack took place on an important road of Gulistan-e-Jauhar. This road connects many universities and goes to Pakistan Meteorological Department. As soon as the news of the blast and firing was received, police and rescue teams reached the spot. The officials cordoned off the entire area. Security forces conducted a search operation to clear the area.
CM Murad Ali Shah asked for report
According to the report of ‘Dawn’, the spokesperson of Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah said that the CM has asked for a detailed report of the incident. The actual cause of the blast, the total number of casualties and the identity of the attackers have not been confirmed yet. Investigation is ongoing.
In the last few months, incidents of targeting security forces have increased in Karachi. This attack has happened at a time when there is an alert regarding terrorist activities in Pakistan.
