Sonia Gandhi cornered the government on Gaza and Iran-America tension, raised serious questions on foreign policy
Tezzbuzz Desk – Congress President Sonia Gandhi has raised serious questions about the foreign policy of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. In his article published in the Indian Express, he has made a sharp comment on the diplomatic direction and global strategic stance of the government.
In her article, Sonia Gandhi said that if India had played the role of mediator amid Iran-America tension, Pakistan would not have got an opportunity in this region. He alleged that in the current situation, India seems to be retreating from its traditional diplomatic position and this is affecting the regional balance.
He also said that India is gradually becoming more deeply integrated into Israel’s strategic ambit, while many countries are keeping distance from it. Referring to the Prime Minister’s visit to Israel, Sonia Gandhi said that this visit took place at a time when tensions in West Asia were at their peak and this decision could be seen as a controversial strategic move in the future.
Criticizing India’s stance on the Gaza crisis, he said that India’s silence despite the humanitarian crisis arising there is contrary to its historical foreign policy and moral values. He appealed to the government to take a clear and strong stance in favor of international law and human rights.
Sonia Gandhi also expressed concern over India’s distancing from its old allies in Palestine, Iran and the Middle East. He said that this is weakening India’s global diplomatic role and its influence on international forums may decrease.
At the end of his article he stressed the need for an immediate ceasefire and increased humanitarian assistance in Gaza. He said that India should play a clear and active role in its foreign policy, giving priority to the values of justice, peace and humanity.
