If you are also thinking of getting a new passport or renewing your old passport, then there is a big news for you. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has officially announced the increase in fees for all passport related services. According to the new notification issued by the government, the revised rates will become effective across the country from July 1, 2026 this year.
The special thing is that this time the fees for general and tatkal category as well as replacement passport for loss or damage of passport have been increased the most.
Ordinary and Tatkal Passport: Now you will have to pay so much money
The new rates for new or re-issue passports of 36 pages and 60 pages for adults and minors aged 15-18 years have been fixed as follows:

36 Page Passport (Normal): Now instead of ₹ 1,500 for this ₹2,500 Have to give.

36 Page Passport (Instant): This fee will increase under Tatkal scheme ₹5,000 Has occurred.

60 Page Passport (Normal): Now for the big booklet ₹3,500 There will be a fee of Rs.

If your passport is lost or damaged, your pockets will become looser.
If your passport is lost or damaged, getting a new replacement passport will be very expensive. The government has made the biggest increase in this section:

36 Page Replacement (Normal): For this you ₹5,000 Will have to spend.

36 Page Replacement (Tatkal): To get a new document immediately ₹7,500 Have to give.

60 Page Replacement (Normal): Fees for this category ₹6,000 It has been determined.

60 Page Replacement (Tatkal): most for this ₹8,500 Will have to pay.

For minors (36 page replacement): New passport in place of children’s missing passport as normal ₹4,250 and immediately ₹6,750 Will be made in.
Rates for PCC, surrender and other certificates also changed
Apart from passport, new service charge has also been fixed for other important paperwork related to it:

PCC and Surrender Certificate: Now available in India for services like Police Clearance Certificate (PCC), Surrender Certificate and Global Entry Program Verification ₹750 The fee has been fixed.

Certificate of Identity: Its price in India ₹1,000 Will happen.

Foreign Services (Emergency/Identity): For Emergency Certificate outside India 15 usd And for Certificate of Identity 50 usd Have to give. Keep in mind that there will be no immediate facility for these international services.
What are the rules of validity?
Despite changing the fees, there has been no change in the old rules of passport validity:

Complete passport issued for adults 10 years Will be valid for.

Validity of passport issued for minors 5 years or their 18 years Will remain valid till completion of (whichever is completed first).
