Big action in Ram temple offering theft case! After recovery of Rs 80 lakh, police raids the houses of the accused

Uttar Pradesh: The case of alleged theft of offerings in Ayodhya’s Ram temple is becoming increasingly serious. In this high-profile case, the police have now widened the scope of investigation and started raiding the houses of the accused. Already, more than Rs 80 lakh has been recovered and eight people have been arrested in this case. Now the police is busy searching for the property, financial condition of the accused and other possible evidence related to the case. It is believed that based on the information received during the interrogation, many new aspects are being investigated.

As part of the investigation, police teams reached the houses of all the accused arrested in the case and conducted a search operation. During this time, the locations of other accused including Ramshankar Yadav alias Tinnu, resident of Swargadwar locality in Ramdham, Ayodhya, Anukalp Mishra, resident of Kaushalpuri and Lavkush Mishra, resident of Rudauli, were also investigated. It is being told that due to the doors of some houses being closed, the police had to struggle to reach inside. During the search, the team tried to collect necessary documents, possible evidence and other important information. Besides, a lot of information was collected by interrogating the family members of the accused and the people living nearby.

Property and financial condition is also being investigated

The police no longer want to limit themselves only to the amount stolen, but are also deeply investigating the financial condition of the accused. The investigating officers are trying to find out how much has changed in the wealth and lifestyle of the accused before starting the work in the temple and during the present time. Apart from this, bank accounts, property related documents and other financial records are also being scrutinized. Officials believe that this investigation may reveal some more important facts related to the case.

Police station in-charge gave information about the action

Ramjanmabhoomi police station in-charge Inspector Sumit Srivastava has confirmed the raid on the houses of the accused. He said that the police is investigating all the necessary aspects and if further action is felt at any place then similar investigation will be continued. At present, the police has not made public the detailed information about what was found in the raid.

Action intensified after SIT report

Police action intensified after receiving the preliminary report of the SIT constituted by the Uttar Pradesh government in the case of theft of Ram temple offerings. After this, a named FIR was lodged against eight people who were counting the notes on behalf of the Ram Mandir Trust.

The names of Ramshankar alias Tinnu Yadav, Anukalp Mishra, Lavkush Mishra, Subhash Chandra Srivastava, Karunesh Pandey, Manish Yadav, Avinash Shukla and Ramashankar Mishra were included in the FIR. Within a few hours of the case being registered, the police arrested all the accused. The police also recovered about Rs 80 lakh in cash from them, which is considered an important part of the investigation.

Questions raised regarding timing of action

However, questions are also being raised regarding the functioning of the police in this entire matter. Opposition parties and some others say that FIR should have been registered first and then SIT investigation should have been initiated. His argument is that the time between initiation of investigation and registration of FIR could have given the accused an opportunity to remove evidence or hide other things.

Some people have also raised questions regarding the recent raid. He says that if the accused were taken on police remand and thoroughly interrogated, the investigation could have been strengthened. Also, the chances of finding new evidence from a search conducted after several days may be less than before.
