RKGIT is shining in the crowd of computer-software, projects worth crores are coming in mechanical and electronics.
RKGIT Ghaziabad: In today’s time, when only computer and software engineering is visible everywhere, many types of questions have started being raised regarding traditional engineering branches. Parents and students often start wondering whether mechanical or electronics engineering still has the same scope as before.
Changing this perception completely, Raj Kumar Goyal Institute of Technology (RKGIT) of Ghaziabad has shown a new path. The institute has proved that with the right vision, modern resources and strong synergy with industries, core engineering is still the strongest guarantee of a bright future for students.
The institute has taken its students studying here beyond bookish knowledge and directly connected them with the needs of the industry. The college administration believes that construction of any major structure or machinery is not possible without basic engineering. With this in mind, the college has upgraded its laboratories and in collaboration with world’s renowned companies, has designed courses that meet the current market demand.
Department of Mechanical Engineering: Center for Innovation and Skill Development
The Department of Mechanical Engineering of RKGIT has emerged as a center of excellence for innovation, skill development and applied research. The department has established strategic collaborations with reputed companies like Eicher Motors Limited (Royal Enfield), PK Precision Tools and NCL Private Limited, thereby providing students better opportunities for industry exposure, internship and practical training.
Additionally, the Department is working towards establishing a significant collaboration with Larsen & Toubro (L&T) in the field of Electric Vehicle (EV) technology, which reflects its commitment towards future technologies.
State-of-the-Art Center of Excellence
To promote practical education, the department has set up modern Centers of Excellence, which have state-of-the-art facilities like 3D Printing facilities, CNC Machines, Industrial Robotic Arms and Fronius Professional Welding Lab. The Royal Enfield Excellence Center provides specialized training to students in the automobile sector, while the proposed Electric Vehicle Excellence Center is an important step towards promoting green and sustainable transportation technologies.
New heights in research and achievements
One of the biggest achievements of the Department of Mechanical Engineering is the successful completion of a ₹1.02 crore project funded by the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India. The project focused on sustainable development of rural areas through green technologies. The innovation culture of the department is also evidenced by the achievements of Team RAPTOR, which has brought pride to the institute by receiving the prestigious “Futuristic Award” in the SIEP ISIE E-Bike Challenge 2025 and 2026.
Excellence in Electronics and Communication Engineering Department
The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) has also made its unique identity in the field of industry collaboration and research. The department has established collaboration with organizations like Airports Authority of India (AAI), VLSI Insight, STEMROBO Technologies, Tech Dhabha and E-Ashwa. Through these partnerships, students get access to internships, training programmes, expert lectures and a range of career development opportunities, thereby equipping them with the real needs of the industry.
‘Srijan’ and international research conference
Every year more than 100 student teams participate in the department’s major project competition ‘Srijan’. This platform encourages innovation, multidisciplinary collaboration and problem solving abilities in students.
Similarly, the IEEE International Conference on Advances in Electronics, Communication and Computing Engineering (AECE) organized by the department has made its special identity at the international level. Five successful editions of this conference have been organized and its sixth edition will be organized in November 2026, which will further strengthen the global research presence of the department.
New direction to core engineering
At a time when interest in core engineering streams seems to be waning in many institutes, RKGIT is continuously investing in the development and modernization of these areas. Through highly educated and experienced faculty, modern infrastructure, industry collaboration and strong research ecosystem, the institute is producing engineers who are not only in tune with the industry requirements, but are also capable of driving technological innovation and contributing meaningfully to the development of society.
This effort of RKGIT clearly shows that through the right approach, industry collaboration and innovation based education, core engineering branches continue to be the cornerstone of nation building and technological progress.
