Monsoon Alert – Heavy to Very Heavy Rain and thunderstorms in 15 states until July 6, IMD Issues Warning
Heavy Rain Alert: The monsoon’s pace is gradually picking up across the country. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an alert for heavy rainfall in over 15 states, including Uttar Pradesh, Delhi-NCR, and Bihar, and has also issued warnings for thunderstorms and lightning strikes in more than 15 states. According to the latest weather bulletin, the Southwest Monsoon has advanced today (June 30, 2026) into further parts of Madhya Pradesh, the remaining areas of Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Bihar, parts of Uttar Pradesh, most of Uttarakhand, and parts of Himachal Pradesh and Ladakh.
This indicates that the monsoon is set to arrive in these states very soon, bringing much-needed relief from the scorching heat. Regarding the weather in Delhi-NCR, the sky has remained cloudy since morning, though humid conditions are making life uncomfortable for residents.
According to the latest IMD update, a low-pressure area is likely to form over the northwest Bay of Bengal around July 3. Under its influence, central parts of the country will experience torrential rainfall this week. Additionally, heavy rain is expected in the Konkan region between July 2 and 4, and in the Ghat areas of Madhya Maharashtra on July 2 and 3. Isolated heavy rainfall is also likely in the South Gujarat region on July 3 and 4, 2026.

Uttar Pradesh Weather Forecast
The monsoon has arrived in UP. The IMD has issued an alert for heavy rain in Eastern Uttar Pradesh today and in Western Uttar Pradesh between June 30 and July 1. An alert has also been issued for thunderstorms accompanied by strong winds in the state on July 2–3.
Weather in Delhi, Haryana, and Punjab
According to the Meteorological Department, light rain is likely in Delhi, Chandigarh, and Punjab on June 30 and July 1, while a spell of heavy rainfall is expected to begin between July 2 and July 6. An alert has been issued for strong winds reaching speeds of 40–50 km/h in these states between July 1 and July 6.

Weather in Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh
Rainfall will continue in Uttarakhand from June 30 to July 6. An alert has been issued due to the forecast of very heavy rainfall on July 1 and 2. Regarding Himachal Pradesh, heavy rain is expected between July 2 and 4, and strong winds blowing at 50–60 km/h are likely from July 3 to 5.
Strong winds in Rajasthan
According to the latest IMD update, an alert has been issued for heavy rain and strong winds in Eastern Rajasthan between July 2 and 6. Additionally, dust storms are likely in Western Rajasthan during the same period (July 2–6).

Rainfall in Bihar and Jharkhand
A heavy rain alert has been issued for Bihar for the next 24 hours. An alert regarding rainfall in the state has also been issued for the period between July 2 and 6. A warning for widespread rainfall in Jharkhand has been issued from June 30 to July 5.
West Bengal and Odisha:
Heavy rain is likely today in Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim. Furthermore, heavy rainfall is forecast for Gangetic West Bengal on July 5 and 6. Odisha may experience heavy to very heavy rainfall from June 30 to July 6.
Weather in Northeast India
According to the Meteorological Department, a heavy rain warning has been issued for Assam and Meghalaya for June 30. Heavy rainfall is expected to continue in Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura until July 4. Additionally, sultry, humid conditions will persist in these northeastern states between July 2 and 4.
