25 big traffic signals will be removed in Delhi! Preparation for journey without stopping at red light, new U-Turn system will be implemented

People can soon get relief from the severe traffic jams that occur daily in the country’s capital Delhi. To streamline the traffic system of the capital, preparations have been started to implement U-Turn based traffic system by removing traffic signals from 25 biggest and busiest intersections. The new system aims to reduce long queues of vehicles at intersections and maintain traffic flow without frequent stops at red lights. This system will allow vehicles to reach their destination through scheduled U-turns and well-planned routes instead of stopping directly at signals.

According to officials, Delhi’s new U-turn based traffic management plan has received in-principle approval. Now preparations for its implementation have been intensified. The scheme will be implemented in different parts of the capital in a phased manner in the coming few months. The concerned departments are carrying out technical survey, traffic analysis and development of necessary infrastructure at the selected intersections.

The new system will prevent long queues of vehicles

After the implementation of the new traffic system, vehicles will not need to stop at any intersection. For those drivers who have to change their direction, U-turn facility will be developed at designated places some distance ahead of the intersection. Vehicles will be able to easily go towards their destination by taking a U-turn from there. The objective of this arrangement is to maintain continuous flow of traffic on the main road without any interruption. There will be less congestion at intersections due to signals or turns, which will avoid long queues of vehicles and travel time will also reduce. Also, reduction in traffic jams will save fuel and will also help in reducing pollution.

Decision taken to reduce traffic jam

The government and traffic police claim that after the implementation of this new traffic system, the picture of Delhi’s roads will change to a great extent. Its objective is to ensure uninterrupted movement of vehicles at intersections and reduce the problem of traffic jams. According to officials, with this system people will not have to stop at signals again and again, which will reduce travel time and vehicles will be able to maintain their average speed without interruption. Continuous driving will also reduce fuel consumption, which will reduce the expenses of the drivers.

Design of intersections will change instead of flyovers

According to officials, it is no longer practical to build new flyovers in many areas of Delhi due to lack of space and other infrastructural challenges. In such a situation, instead of building new flyovers by spending crores of rupees, a strategy has been adopted to make the traffic more smooth by changing the design of the existing intersections. Under this new system, the flow of traffic will continue without any interruption, which will reduce the jam situation at the intersections to a great extent.
