MeitY once again social media company Meta Notice has been issued. In the last three days, Mark Zuckerberg’s company Government of India This is the second time of serving the notice. Earlier, clarification was sought regarding WhatsApp username. Now, the government has summoned the social media platform over some offensive ads shared on Instagram. According to sources, ads containing child-objectionable content (CSAM) have been shared on Meta’s Instagram platform. In this case, the government has called the officials of Meta.
The government sought an explanation
Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav has directed MeitY officials to seek an explanation from Meta regarding these offensive ads on Instagram and to inquire how they were approved and aired on the platform. MeitY officials have asked the platform how ads containing objectionable content related to children were approved for uploading on Instagram. Mark Zuckerberg’s company has demanded a response, questioning why Meta’s detection and prevention systems failed to stop them.

Meta removed the offending ads
According to reports, Meta has removed these offending ads from Instagram. According to the company, offensive content related to children is a serious violation. To address this, the company uses artificial intelligence and automated detection systems, along with a dedicated review team. Not only this, the company has partnered with NSMEC (National Center for Missing and Exploited Children).
Notices previously issued
The government had recently issued a notice to Meta regarding WhatsApp’s new username feature. The platform recently introduced this feature, which allows users to reserve a username or user ID for themselves. The government has questioned Meta about this, noting that the feature could promote scams like cyber fraud, identity theft and “digital arrests”. However, the company says that this feature is being rolled out keeping in mind the privacy of the users and has implemented various security measures for it.
