Video-11 year old child crushed 9 Buddhist monks with a pickup truck, painful death on the spot, many seriously injured

Bangkok: A hair-raising accident has come to light in Mukdahan province of north-eastern Thailand. Here an 11-year-old boy crushed a procession of Buddhist monks on pilgrimage in his parents’ pickup truck. In this horrific collision, 9 Buddhist monks died, while many others were seriously injured. The local hospital has appealed for immediate blood donation to save the lives of the injured.

According to the police, the accident occurred when a group of 35 monks and followers were on a pilgrimage by road. Meanwhile, an 11-year-old boy, who was alone at home and did not go to school due to illness, went away in his parents’ pickup truck without permission. Due to high speed, he lost control of the vehicle and hit the monks walking on the roadside. The collision was so severe that five monks died on the spot, while four others died during treatment in the hospital. According to media reports, a monk participating in the procession at the time of the incident said that the track came towards us at full speed and crushed the monks by throwing them in the air.

According to reports, Police Major General Piroj Thaiputsa said that preliminary investigation has indicated that the child has special needs. At present the child has been kept under the supervision of doctors and parents. The police have sent the crashed vehicle for forensic examination and the legal process is underway. Mukdahan Province Governor Vorayan Bunarat described the incident as extremely unfortunate and called it a big lesson for road safety and parental responsibility in the country.
