New Renault Kwid Launched At 4.52 Lakh; Climber Starts From 4.99 Lakh
The French automaker Renault has finally launched the 2026 Kwid facelift in India. This time around the updated hatchback gets a few cosmetic changes, more safety features, a simplified variant lineup. What’s more interesting is that instead of hiking up the price the new Kwid has lower prices for most variants compared to the outgoing model. Renault has also announced an official CNG retrofit option for manual variants.
Renault has launched the 2026 Kwid with a starting price of Rs 4.53 lakh (ex-showroom). The updated Kwid hatchback will now be available in two variants namely the Evolution and Climber. Both variants can be had with either a 5-speed manual gearbox or a 5-speed AMT. The Evolution MT variant has been priced at Rs 4.53 lakh.
Meanwhile the Evolution AMT is priced at Rs 4.90 lakh. Then there is the Climber MT priced at Rs 5.15 lakh and lastly the Climber AMT has been launched at Rs 5.61 lakh. Now although the starting price is Rs 22,000 higher than the discontinued base-spec Authentic variant. The remaining variants have actually become more affordable.
The Evolution variants are cheaper by up to Rs 14,000. Meanwhile the Climber variants are now up to Rs 32,000 cheaper than before. Renault has also discontinued the earlier Authentic and Techno variants which makes the lineup much simpler.
Renault is currently offering attractive online pricing for the Climber variant. Customers who will book the Kwid online can buy the Climber MT for Rs 4.99 lakh instead of Rs 5.15 lakh. And the Climber AMT is available online for Rs 5.46 lakh instead of Rs 5.61 lakh.
One of the biggest additions of the new 2026 Kwid is that it now gets an official CNG retrofit kit. Buyers who will opt for the manual transmission variants can get the CNG kit installed at authorised Renault workshops by paying an additional Rs 70,450. The company is offering a standard warranty of three years or one lakh kilometres, whichever comes first, on this factory-approved retrofitment.
The 2026 Renault Kwid does not get a major design update. Instead, Renault has made a few subtle cosmetic revisions. The most noticeable change is the new 3D Renault logo at the front and rear. The hatchback also gets redesigned dual-tone plastic wheel covers for the 14-inch steel wheels which give it a slightly fresher appearance.
At the rear, the Kwid lettering on the tailgate now uses a different font and gets a silver finish. Apart from these changes, the rest of the exterior is identical to the previous model. It continues to get the same eyebrow-shaped LED DRLs, halogen headlamps, halogen tail lamps, roof rails, rugged bumpers, black body cladding, and the familiar Climber-specific styling elements on the top variant.

Like the exterior, the interior has also been kept the same. However, Renault has added a new three-spoke steering wheel borrowed from the Kiger SUV. It also gets the latest Renault logo and integrated controls for the infotainment system.
The rest of the dashboard layout remains exactly the same. It gets the same 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system supporting wired Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a semi-digital instrument cluster with a multi-information display, manual air conditioning, front and rear power windows, and the same black fabric seat upholstery with yellow accents.
One of the biggest improvements on the new Kwid is safety. The base-spec Evolution variant now gets dual airbags as standard. Meanwhile, the top-spec Climber variant now comes with six airbags. Its other safety features include rear parking camera, rear parking sensors, Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), Hill Start Assist on AMT variants, Keyless entry with central locking, ABS with EBD and seatbelt reminders.

Mechanically, nothing has changed and powering the new Kwid is the same 1.0-litre, three-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine. It makes 69 bhp and 92.5 Nm of torque. Transmission options include 5-speed manual gearbox and 5-speed automated manual transmission (AMT). It will continue to rival the entry-level hatchbacks such as the Maruti Alto K10 and Maruti S-Presso. It also competes with higher variants of the Maruti Celerio as well.
