Political uproar in TMC! Mamata Banerjee’s close aide Chandrima Bhattacharya resigns from all posts

Kolkata. A big development came to light in the politics of West Bengal on Saturday. Chandrima Bhattacharya, state president of Trinamool Congress (TMC) and considered close to Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, announced her resignation from all posts of the party. He informed about his decision by writing a letter to party chief Mamata Banerjee. After his resignation, the turmoil in the state politics has intensified.

It is being told that a day before this, the activities of the rebel group regarding the party office had openly exposed the ongoing differences within the organization. In such an environment, Chandrima Bhattacharya’s resignation is being seen as a big political blow for TMC.

Took over the responsibility of State President on June 3-
Chandrima Bhattacharya was given the responsibility of the post of state president of the party on 3 June 2026. He had replaced Subrata Bakshi. As part of the change in the organization, Mamata Banerjee first dissolved various committees of the party and then announced the new leadership.

In her resignation, Chandrima Bhattacharya wrote that she is resigning from the responsibility of state president assigned to her in the meeting held in Kalighat on June 3. She also made it clear that she was divesting herself of all other positions she held in the party.

Also left responsibilities related to bank accounts and Election Commission-
In her letter, Chandrima Bhattacharya said that she is also giving up the responsibility of authorized signatory of various bank accounts of the party and its associated organizations. Apart from this, he also announced to recuse himself from his role as the authorized representative of party chief Mamata Banerjee before the Election Commission of India.

However, in his letter, he expressed respect for Mamata Banerjee and said that he will always have respect for the party chief and this respect will remain in the future also.

Has played an important role in government and organization-
Chandrima Bhattacharya has held the responsibility of important departments like finance and health in the West Bengal government. She has also been among the key leaders of the women’s wing of the party and has played an active role in the organization for a long time.

In the recent assembly elections, he had to face defeat from Dumdum North assembly seat. After this, amidst the changes made in the organization, he was made the state president. Now his resignation has given rise to new discussions regarding the internal politics of Trinamool Congress.
