IND vs ENG 2nd T20I: Team India flew under the storm of Jacob Batchelor, England won the match by 4 wickets in Manchester
New Delhi: England made a comeback in the series by defeating India by 4 wickets in the second T20I played at Old Trafford, Manchester. Batting first, India made a strong score of 190 runs, but the Indian bowlers could not stand the stormy innings of Jacob Bethel. England ended the match in the last over.
Vaibhav’s debut, Ishaan’s slow innings
In this match, 15 years 99 days old Vaibhav Suryavanshi made his international debut for India. He became India’s youngest debutant. But the debut was not memorable. Vaibhav was stumped after scoring 14 runs in 10 balls. However, as soon as he came to the crease, he showed his style by hitting 2 sixes.
The pace of India’s innings was a little slow because of Ishan Kishan. Ishaan scored 49 runs but the strike rate was low. For this reason the team could not cross 200. India scored 190 runs in 20 overs. The score was good, but could not be defended.

Jacob Bethel’s storm
England had a very bad start. Arshdeep Singh dismissed Jos Buttler and Phil Salt in the very first over. In such a situation, Jacob Bethel quickly came to third place. In the beginning he played cautiously. His score was only 37 runs in 33 balls. It seemed that the match was going in India’s direction.
But after this Bethel changed gears. He scored 39 runs in the last 13 balls. Bethel played a match-winning inning of 76 runs in 46 balls. This included 5 fours and 5 sixes. He targeted both spin and pace equally.
Bishnoi’s 16th over became the turning point
The turn of the match changed when England needed 49 runs in the last 5 overs. India had a chance to make a comeback. But in the 16th over, Ravi Bishnoi turned the tables. Bishnoi gave away 29 runs in that over.
There were also 2 no-balls in the over. In total he bowled 9 balls. 3 sixes and 1 four came in this over. This one over put the match in England’s favor. After this, England’s batsmen did not allow pressure to build and won in the last over.
The defeat was disappointing for India as 190 runs were defendable. Vaibhav showed glimpses on debut, but could not finish. A bad over in bowling by Bishnoi changed the course of the match.
Bethel became the hero for England. His innings proved that one player can single-handedly turn a match in T20. Now the next match of the series has become more exciting.
