According to the new rules of ROP, now tinting of vehicle windows will be allowed up to a maximum of 50%. But here one thing has to be kept in mind that the front windshield of the vehicle should remain completely clean, no tinting of any kind can be done on it.
Rules have also been set for those vehicles which have factory-installed glass installed by the company itself. Such vehicles will be licensed when at least 30% light can come in through their mirrors.
Apart from this, permission has also been given to apply matte paint protection films/wraps for the exterior look of the vehicles. The only condition is that their finish should be glossy and it should be as per the prescribed standards.
This update has been released around 4th and 5th July 2026. The Royal Oman Police has taken this step to simplify the procedures for motorists and ensure road safety considering the heat and weather of Oman.
