Darbhanga: A young man returning after leaving his sister at his in-laws’ house died in a road accident, the driver absconding.

Darbhanga. A young man riding a scooter died in a road accident on the Dharaura-Darbhanga main road in Benipur sub-division area in the district. The deceased has been identified as Kunal Safi, son of Ghuran Safi, resident of Chaugma village of Benipur Municipal Council area.

According to the information, Kunal Safi was returning home on Scooty after dropping his sister at her in-laws’ house. Meanwhile, his scooter became unbalanced near a brick kiln on the Dharaura-Darbhanga main road. Then a speeding pickup vehicle hit the scooter hard from behind, due to which he died on the spot.

After the accident, the pickup driver left the vehicle and fled from the spot. With the help of local people, the injured youth was brought to Sub-Divisional Hospital, Benipur, where doctors declared him dead after examination.

As soon as the information was received, Bahera police station reached the spot and seized the pickup vehicle and the damaged scooter. Police have taken the body into their custody and sent it to DMCH for post-mortem. The search for the absconding driver has been started.
