Monsoon Alert – Heavy Rain Warning for 15 States, IMD Warns Thunderstorms in Several States

Monsoon Alert:- A spell of rainfall has commenced across regions ranging from Delhi, Bihar, and UP to Tamil Nadu. Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department has issued an alert for heavy rain, thunderstorms, and squalls across 15 states. Strong winds are also likely to accompany the rainfall in these states. A depression has formed over the northwest Bay of Bengal and the adjoining coasts of North Odisha and West Bengal.

In its latest bulletin, the Meteorological Department stated that heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely at isolated places in Chhattisgarh and Madhya Maharashtra on July 5 and 6; in Odisha on July 5; and in the Konkan-Goa and Gujarat regions between July 5 and 7.

Regarding the weather in Chhattisgarh, Red, Orange, and Yellow alerts have been issued for several districts over the next 24 to 48 hours. A Red alert has been issued for 10 districts in Chhattisgarh. The Meteorological Department has issued a Red alert for the next 24 hours for the districts of Raipur, Durg, Baloda Bazar, Rajnandgaon, Bemetara, Mahasamund, Balod, Dhamtari, Gariaband, and Sarangarh-Bilaigarh.

Rainfall Expected in Delhi-NCR

The Meteorological Department has issued an alert for heavy rainfall on July 6. Alerts for rain and thunderstorms on July 6 have been issued for several areas, including Greater Kailash and the whole of North Delhi—covering localities such as Mukherjee Nagar, Model Town, Azadpur, Sadar Bazar, and Kashmere Gate. Tomorrow, the maximum temperature in Delhi is expected to be 37 degrees Celsius, while the minimum is likely to be 29 degrees Celsius.

Rainfall Expected in Bihar on July 6

The Meteorological Department has issued a heavy rainfall alert for Gaya, Nalanda, Sheikhpura, Nawada, Jehanabad, Rohtas, Kaimur, Aurangabad, Banka, Jamui, Lakhisarai, and Arwal. Meanwhile, warnings for light rain have also been issued for Patna, Buxar, Bhojpur, Begusarai, Bhagalpur, Madhepura, Katihar, Purnia, Supaul, Araria, and Kishanganj. Strong winds may also occur during this period.

Rainfall warnings for Bihar, Odisha, Arunachal, and Meghalaya
The Meteorological Department has issued an alert for rainfall in parts of Bihar from July 5 to 11 and in parts of Odisha from July 8 to 11. Warnings have also been issued for thunderstorms and lightning in parts of Jharkhand (July 5–9) and Bihar (July 6).

An alert for heavy rainfall has been issued for Northeast India as well over the coming days; warnings cover Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, and Meghalaya for July 5–6. Additionally, alerts have been issued for rainfall in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, and Meghalaya (July 7–11) and in Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura (July 5–11).

Rainfall expected in Northwest India
An alert has been issued for rainfall in parts of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh on July 6. Furthermore, alerts have been issued for rainfall in parts of Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, and Punjab (July 5, 6, and 10); Western Uttar Pradesh (July 5–8); Eastern Uttar Pradesh (July 5–7); Western Rajasthan (July 5–11); and Eastern Rajasthan (July 5 and 11). Alerts are also in place for Uttarakhand (July 5–11) and Eastern Uttar Pradesh (July 6–8).
