‘Alpha’ faces backlash over Alia Bhatt, Sharvari’s bikini scenes
A scene from Alpha sparked discussion on social media after the film was released in theatres on Friday. The debate focused on scenes featuring Indian actors Alia Bhatt and Sharvari in swimwear.
A video from the film circulated online and quickly drew attention. The clip showed Sharvari in a two-piece bikini during a beach sequence, while Alia Bhatt appeared in black shorts and a bikini top before putting on a jacket.
The scene received mixed reactions from social media users. Some questioned whether the sequence was necessary in a spy film, while others said it was a normal part of commercial cinema.
One user wrote, “This is all YRF’s #AlphaMovie needs to offer to bikini lovers on the internet!!”
Another commented, “Just YRF doing YRF things – compulsory bikini scene in a spy movie.”
A third user wrote, “Spy thriller or swimsuit calendar? A good script doesn’t need forced bikini shots for hype. Female spies should be brutal and badass, but YRF is stuck on the glamour trope. Focus on action.”
Another post read, “The bikini legacy of the YRF Spy Universe continues in Alpha.”
One user also criticised the presentation of the scene and wrote, “They just want to show close-up butt shots and b**b shots in bikinis. No idea of storytelling.”
The comments continued to spread online as more viewers shared their opinions about the sequence.
As of now, the makers of Alpha have not released any official statement regarding the reactions on social media.
