Delhi: Dead body of senior resident doctor found in Ambedkar Hospital, suicide note and medicine bottles recovered.
A painful incident came to light on Sunday at Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar Hospital located in Civil Lines of the capital Delhi. Dr Simarpreet Singh Anand, a 35-year-old senior resident (SR) doctor working in the anesthesia department of the hospital, was found dead in his duty room. Police have recovered a three-page alleged suicide note, personal diary, syringe and some empty medicine bottles from the spot. At present the police is investigating the case from all aspects.
Did not come out after night duty, door of room broken
According to the police, on the morning of July 5, Civil Lines police station received information through PCR call that a doctor was lying unconscious in duty room number 109 of Aruna Asaf Ali Hospital complex. Police reached the spot and found that the deceased was identified as Dr. Simarpreet Singh Anand, who was originally from Ludhiana, Punjab and was serving at Ambedkar Hospital for the last three years. His night duty was from 8 pm on 4th July to 8 am on 5th July. When he did not come out even after completing his duty, the hospital staff broke the door, where the doctor was found in an unconscious state. He was immediately taken to emergency, but doctors declared him dead.
Alleged suicide note found at the spot, investigation underway
During initial investigation, a cannula was found in the doctor’s left hand. According to the police, at around 10 pm, a technician had inserted the cannula on the doctor’s request. FSL and crime team collected evidence from the spot. In the alleged suicide note recovered, the doctor has written that he took this step of his own free will. Also mentioned are personal relations with a female senior resident doctor and family disagreements in an inter-caste marriage. Police is investigating the authenticity of the note.
The cause of death will be confirmed after the post mortem report.
The body has been kept safe in the mortuary for post-mortem. Post mortem will be conducted under the supervision of the medical board. Police say that the actual cause of death will be ascertained on the basis of forensic report, post-mortem and other evidence. At present, Civil Lines police station is investigating the case from every aspect.
