Bangladesh Bomb Blast: Massive bomb blast at ‘NCP’ rally of student leaders near Dhaka, 3 people seriously injured; India’s big statement on extradition of former PM Sheikh Hasina

Even after the coup and huge political turmoil in the neighboring country Bangladesh, the ground situation has not become completely normal. Meanwhile, in a major incident, a massive bomb blast took place during a public meeting of the newly formed ‘National Citizen Party’ (NCP) in Savar area near the capital Dhaka. At least three people have been seriously injured due to this bomb blast. It is noteworthy that this new political party is mainly led by the same student leaders who led the nationwide violent movement against the government of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Terrorists targeted the rally going on at Idgah ground. According to the official statement issued by the National Citizen Party (NCP), terrorists carried out this bomb blast by targeting the Idgah ground located at Savar police station stand. The attack took place when the party’s ‘Post-March Rally’ was going on in the grounds. This rally was organized on the first day of ‘July March’, the aim of which was to garner public support for major demands like implementing referendum in the country, creating new employment opportunities for the youth, finding a permanent solution to the country’s severe power crisis, controlling the rising prices of daily commodities and strengthening the security of the borders. The march is being taken out on the second anniversary of the student movement against Sheikh Hasina. According to party officials, the outline of this nationwide march was prepared on the occasion of the second anniversary of the historic student movement against former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Under this, it has been announced to take out marches in different states throughout the month of July. Recall that after widespread protests and violence, Sheikh Hasina suddenly left Bangladesh and came to India on August 5, 2024, after which continuous violent demonstrations are being held there against her and her party Awami League. The Indian Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has shared a very important information in this regard. The Ministry of External Affairs has officially confirmed that it is reviewing in accordance with the prescribed legal and judicial procedures the formal request (Note Verbale) sent by the new government in Dhaka for the extradition of former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal clarified in the weekly press briefing held in New Delhi that this entire process is going on completely within the ambit of internal legal protocols and judicial framework. This big statement of the Government of India has come at such a critical time when New Delhi wants to keep its bilateral relations, trade, energy partnership and regional security stable and strong with the new interim arrangement made in Dhaka after the ‘July Revolution’. The Ministry of External Affairs has made it clear that India will take any final decision in this entire matter only keeping the best interests of the people of Bangladesh and democratic stability paramount.
