Trump’s big statement amid Khamenei’s funeral, reiterated America’s stance on nuclear weapons

New Delhi . Tensions between America and Iran are once again in the headlines. US President Donald Trump has given a strict warning regarding Iran, saying that America wants a path of agreement, but if the situation arises, it will not delay in taking decisive action. This statement of Trump has come at a time when preparations for the funeral are going on in Iran after the death of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

While talking to reporters at the White House, Trump said that America will protect its interests in any situation. According to him, the first option is compromise, but if talks are not successful then America is capable of achieving its objectives. He also said that he does not want large-scale casualties, hence prefers a diplomatic solution.

American stance reiterated on nuclear program

Referring to Iran’s nuclear program, Trump said that America will not allow Iran to acquire nuclear weapons under any circumstances. He claimed that America’s objective is only to ensure that Iran does not have the ability to develop nuclear weapons.

  • He also said oil prices have recently fallen below war highs and the US wants Iran to abide by the terms of any potential deal.

America does not want change of power

Trump clarified that America’s goal is not to bring about regime change in Iran. He said that America’s priority is regional stability and stopping the spread of nuclear weapons.

    Rhetoric continues even after ceasefire

Although a ceasefire is in force between the two sides after the recent conflict, the rhetoric continues to escalate. Trump has already made strong statements regarding Iran many times and has talked about diplomatic solutions as well as military options being open.

    Iran gave a strong reply

Trump’s statement also drew a sharp reaction from Iran. The Iranian Embassy in Armenia criticized America on social media, saying that killing a person does not end his ideas. The embassy accused the US of not understanding Iran’s history and culture and said the politics of pressure will not change its principles.

This continued sharp rhetoric between the two countries indicates that despite the ceasefire, the tension in relations has not completely ended. Diplomatic talks and regional developments in the coming days will decide the direction of this relationship.
