Just a day after the film was suddenly removed from the OTT platform Zee5, the film has been completely leaked on the social media platform X (Twitter). The pirated version of this film, which was released after a long and never-ending legal battle of censorship, is now going viral on the internet. The film ‘Sutlej’ was made from ‘Punjab 95’ under the shadow of censorship. This film, directed by Honey Trehan, remained stuck in controversies and the rounds of the Censor Board (CBFC) for a long time. Initially this film was named ‘Punjab 95’, on which the Censor Board had suggested 120 cuts. After much deliberation and changing the name to ‘Sutlej’, it was finally released on Zee5 on 3 July. But just two days after its release, it was suddenly removed from the platform. It is not yet clear whether Zee5 will bring this film again on its platform or not. As soon as it was removed from OTT, angry fans leaked it on social media. Diljit Dosanjh’s fans are very angry after the film was removed from the platform. Fans have come together and started posting downloaded pirated versions of the film and sharing links on social media sites like X. The situation is that people are going to the comment section of these posts and demanding different formats and download links of the film so that it can be watched without any restriction. Diljit Dosanjh made this unique appeal to the fans on Instagram Live. Amidst all this incident, lead actor Diljit Dosanjh himself came live on Instagram and talked to his fans. When fans told him that they had downloaded the film even before it was removed from OTT, Diljit expressed happiness. He appealed to the fans to share this download link with as many people as possible so that till the time the film comes back officially on ZEE5, people can watch it with their families. Diljit wrote emotionally that the same thing happened with ‘Sutlej’ which happened with martyr Jaswant Singh Khalra in real life. Who was Jaswant Singh Khalra, on whom this film is made? The film depicts the painful and struggling story of Jaswant Singh Khalra, a famous human rights activist from Punjab in the 1990s. Khalra had exposed the huge scam of extra-judicial killings of thousands of Sikh youth and burning of their unclaimed bodies by the Punjab Police. Khalra, who had raised his voice against government violence, was abducted by the police in 1995 and later murdered. Later, six Punjab Police officers were also convicted by the court in this case.
